Moyes made to look a cu*t with Maguire. So he'll sulk for a while now and take it out on a few selected players.
Did I mention he's a cu*t?

Pleased this has died. Hope that Steidten now gets to bring in a couple of data driven hungry young types.

I don’t recommend unwittingly opening this thread in chronological order mode. Realising one has made a mistake can be a welcome relief though ;)

Hopefully we can move on quickly to either of the Bayer Leverkusen players Steidten had flagged or Harwood-Bellis from Man City
Unless Moyes is going through his ROLODEX for a current number for Andy Melville or Malky Mackay

he want's to stay and fight for his place at Man Utd
Equals
He couldn’t get a big enough pay off from Man Utd and has elected to stink the place out for the rest of his contract, and walk away on a free when it finishes.

Now confirmed by the BBC, he want's to stay and fight for his place at Man Utd.
Expect his England career is now over.
Bullet dodged.

As with all other players, if he doesn't want to come here the fuck him. He's frankly a mug as he'll rot on the bench/reserves and will fuck up his England chances. As opposed to a career reset he'll get under moyesball.
Bigger issue is that the season has started, there's 2 weeks left of the window and we've got a fuck ton of cash and don't have a clue how to spend it.

Bottom line is, the window opened 9 weeks ago and CH was one of the positions we clearly needed to strengthen so it shouldn't have taken as long as it has to reach the conclusion we have reached with Maguire before moving onto alternative CH targets.
We are not in control of the situation between Man U and Maguire but we are in control of our own transfer strategy and the decisions which are made within that strategy.
The concern is our owners and current manager both have track records of chasing lost causes for far too long. It's fine to be ambitious and go for these targets as long as you when to pull the plug if its not happening and we as a club don't seem to know how to do that

Saving 30 mil on a bloke who has been at fault for over 20 goals in 2 seasons for Man Utd and England sounds like a massive bullet dodged to me.
Worth 10 mil max as basically he's been awful since getting fingered in jail in Greece.

We play Chelsea this weekend - a big game for us as fans and as a club. Yet already I'm hearing some fans write off the game altogether because "we still need three or four players" - which is probably true.
But the season is well and truly underway. We're playing big rivals - yet even now we have no idea what our likely starting line-up is, because Moyes "may" crowbar a newbie into the squad before the match deadline.
Our approach is still two bob or Steptoe and Son, despite a shiny trophy in the cabinet. And that's the continued legacy of Sullivan.

Quite apart from the fact that most fans didn't see the logic in signing an old carthorse (if he's not good enough for MU why is he good enough for us?) this debacle perfectly highlights the utter incompetence of our 'recruitment' process. Moyes clearly understand nothing, Sullivan has learned nothing and so far Steidten promises nothing. It's not more football experts this club needs - its a recruitment expert from the recruitment industry.

We're still very Harry Redknapp 'scattergun' with transfers - all that's changed is the fees and wages have soared since.
Every now and then we hit on nugget. Often we do poor due diligence, leave it too late, rush the negotiations - and end up with unsuitable players trying to push square pegs into round holes (Scamacca, Haller, Anderson etc).
Would love to know what 'really' happened behind the scenes this summer, with Sullivan and Moyes being joined by Steidten around a table that appears to have been loaded with indecisive nonsense.

Yeah, the issues certainly seemed to be primarily between Maguire and Man Utd.
West Ham appear to have got fed up waiting for that situation to be resolved. If those circumstances are correct, then we can't really blame Moyes or Sullivan.
What we can blame the club for, once again under Sullivan, however, is still being in a vulnerable position with regard to transfers after the season has started. We rarely, if ever, do our business early and any great deal of certainty - so the incoming players rarely, if ever, get close to a full pre-season with us.
It's why we too often look like a disjointed bunch of strangers. That and Moyes' disjointed bunch of 'tactics'.
I always feel we're just winging it in the transfer market. Especially so when we have a bigger pot of money to spend.

The issue, as such, is between McGuire and ManU.
So in time honoured fashion let’s blame Sullivan for it.

I'm not talking about our processes in having all of the parts agreed ... the fee, his wages & his payoff with Man U ... or finalised. I am talking about people CRYING about being lied to because it was a 'done deal' It was never described as a done deal

That’s precisely what I’m talking about, bampot.
Why let it get that far without being assured about how the finances are proposed to be fixed at their end.
If you ever bought a house, you’d know that the vendor has to sign a legal document disclosing all sorts of stuff that may affect the sale. That’s called due diligence. We don’t appear to bother, we just let weeks drag on, apparently not knowing any of the circumstances.

Not sure why everyone is getting worked up about Al that was announced was that agreement had been reached with Man U on the fee Was always going to be difficult on the personal terms basis as he was obviously going to want Man U to pay out compensation over his REDUCED CIRCUMSTANCES if he came to us
Will only rest easy when one of the alternatives are signed and we have definitely dodged the Maguire bullet

You can’t, but you could think that the money side of him leaving would have been something West Ham should have asked about up front
It ended up being a deal breaker. How can you announce a deal if you don’t even know if the player has accepted all of the financial arrangements?

You can’t blame the fella for wanting his dough they stuck a contract in front of him and he’d be losing 3.5mill a year When he was playing well and captaining them to second in the league if he’d wanted to go to Madrid for instance they would of saved the contract at him it’s a two way thing you can’t just fuck the contract off when you think it suits you
Personally I think he would of been a great addition he’s much better on the ball than Zouma and a much better defender than Aguerd who was fucking awful on Saturday by the way run ragged by Dominic fucking solanki
